Authorities ID victim, suspect in early morning Oakhurst shooting

FRIDAY EVENING UPDATE |

Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees has identified the victim of Friday morning's shooting in Johnstown as 19-year-old Emerald Nugent Jr. of Hornerstown.

Lees says Nugent died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death has been ruled a homicide.

More information is expected to be released next week as the investigation unfolds.

FRIDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE |

Cambria County authorities have identified the suspect accused of shooting and killing a man, and wounding a woman, early Friday morning at Oakhurst Homes.

Officials say police are searching for Jashon Gordon.

Authorities say Gordon faces charges of criminal homicide and aggravated assault.

Anyone who knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact police or 911.

Authorities have not yet provided a description or a photo of Gordon.

Cambria County District Attorney Greg Neugebauer confirmed to 6 News that police have recovered the weapon used in Friday morning's shooting at Oakhurst Homes.

Neugebauer also stated that the woman who was transported to Conemaugh Hospital after the shooting is expected to survive.

Officials have not yet confirmed the identity of the male victim who was killed and no arrests have been announced.

Johnstown Police Chief Richard Pritchard says that Friday's early morning shooting at Oakhurst Homes is believed to be an isolated incident.

Authorities say there is no danger to the public and investigators believe that the victims knew the shooter.

Officials say the shooting left one man dead and a woman injured.

The identity of the male has not yet been released and authorities say an autopsy is being conducted Friday afternoon.

Police also say that the shooter had not yet been apprehended.

Cambria County Corner Jeff Lees says one man is dead and a woman was taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center following a shooting at Building 29 at Oakhurst Homes a little after 4 a.m. Friday.

We're told the unidentified man died at the scene and his identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Lees says an autopsy will be performed later this morning at Forensic DX in Windber.

The unidentified woman's condition is not known at this time.

It's not known if a suspect has been taken into custody.

Lees says the Cambria County Coroner's Office, along with the Cambria County District Attorney's Office and Johnstown Police are investigating the cause of the shooting.
