How to Change Loadout Name & Icon in Destiny 2

So, can you rename your loadout in Destiny 2? The good news is that you can! However, the bad news is that it can not be just any name you desire. While there are quite a few options to select from, you will unfortunately not be able to name your loadouts however you want.

At the launch of the loadout system, to the best of our knowledge, there is no option to give a custom name to your loadout. Rather, loadouts can only be labelled with a name from a list of available pre-made names. You can rename a loadout in Destiny 2 by hovering over the loadout and then pressing “right” on your Directional pad (D-pad). And to change an icon, hover over a loadout and press “left” on the D-pad.

So, sorry, no custom names. You won’t be able to be cheesy with your names. However, while it loses that personal moment when making a loadout, in terms of pure functionality, this is not a bad thing. There are 20 icons and 20 names, each covering unique roles, game modes, builds, and so on. Hence, you will be able to label your loadout properly and know exactly what’s the intended role of that build just by looking at the name and the icon.

And in our book, this is more than great. The Loadout system was a long-overdue feature in a game such as Destiny 2, and when it’s finally here, it has everything it needs to have. Maybe in some future updates, Bungie will decide to add custom names, but we’re sure that’s not a priority for the developers. With that said, our “Destiny 2 Change Loadouts Name & Icon” guide is completed.
